Eco Church

Responding to God’s calling for the earth

We believe that we all need to make a greater effort to look after the world God has given us, so each church in SWCUA will be working towards becoming an Eco Church, following the A Rocha award scheme. Click here for details:

Eco Church

The vision is for churches to care for creation as an integral part of loving their neighbours and following God faithfully.

The first step is to take the Eco Survey to gauge where the church currently stands in relation to the three different levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold.

There are supporting resources to help equip the church to express its care for God’s world in:

 – worship and teaching

– looking after buildings and land

– engaging with the local community and in global campaigns

– the personal lifestyles of the congregation

Beacon Hill Methodist Church, Dalton Community Church and Ramsden Street United Reformed Church all achieved the Bronze Eco Church Award in 2023 and Vickerstown Methodist Church has now achieved the Silver Eco Church Award. Congratulations to them all! Have a look at Vickerstown’s story below.
